Discovery Years Child Learning Center's™ toddler program, Early Explorers™, incorporates a balanced learning curriculum between structured and independent play. Toddlers learn and develop by experiencing their environment through their senses, by physically moving about and through social interactions. As toddlers become more mobile, our Early Explorers™ classroom provides children with opportunities to climb, explore and discover. We nurture independence and self-help skills, increase socialization and small group interactions. Child initiated activities are abundant.
Discovery Years Child Learning Center™ offers toddlers a developmentally appropriate curriculum, 'Essentials for Early Learning'™, which incorporates the latest research in toddler development. Toddlers will experience language development, cultural and human relations (sharing, taking turns), concepts (up/down), colors, shapes and sizes, science (water, ice), developing gross motor skills (riding toys, climbing), and fine motor skills (manipulatives). Our Early Explorer™ program tracks each child's progress and an assessment. Our caregivers play a critical role of nurturing and interacting with your child daily to enhance their development.
Before an employee is able to work in our toddler classrooms, they are required to fulfill our exclusively designed training courses which include:
• Infant/Toddler First Aid and CPR
• Keys to Care Giving: Teaches up to date information about infant/toddler behavior, how it can impact care-giving, and how it can help caregivers translate this knowledge to parents.
• Promoting First Relationships: This course trains our caregivers in the use of practical, effective strategies for promoting secure and healthy relationships with children 0-2 years of age.
• Baby Sign: Teaches caregivers baby sign language for young children to be on their way in communicating their feelings, wants and needs.
Once a potential employee makes the commitment to becoming a caregiver at our center, they undergo a criminal background check, a CARI Report check, must agree to random drug testing and successfully complete our training course prior to being hired. Our extensive hiring process is our way of guaranteeing that your child will receive the best quality of care. Early Explorers™ We offer a minimal amount of transition for your child. Research shows that providing young children with a consistent caregiver allows them to maintain a sense of security which helps them explore more freely the world around them. That is why our infant caregivers are committed and dedicated individuals who can work a 40 hour work week. We understand that your toddler will thrive most from the consistency and confidence in our adult caregivers. Our caregiver to Early Explorers™ ratio is 1:4.
